On Monday morning I was all set for an epic 5-day grind. With the missus away I had planned to smash out around 50k hands from Monday to Friday. Monday went well and it was quite late at night and I was already sitting on 5-digit hands for the day when I decided to fire up one more session.
I fired up HEM1 (Holdem Manager) and then BOOM:
SHIT...!!
I already had this same issue around 3 months ago and while I knew that it was fixable I also knew that dealing with HEM Support would take time, a lot of time..!! Last time it took over 3 days and this time it took almost 4 days, dealing with 5 different people. While the quality of support is generally good the response times are pretty poor.
So how does this issue affect me? Well there are 2 major problems: Firstly the live hands import crashes and does not import and secondly the HUD does not work properly and just displays nonsense.
While you can play relatively well HUD-less there are just too many spots (mainly co,btn,sb,bb wars) where I rely heavily on my HUD. I decided that I didn't want to play sub-optimally so I just dropped down and played some NL10/NL25 both 6-max & FR all ZOOM. I also played some Omaha for a laugh. Thinking about it now I could probably play better at the normal tables and I would not need a HUD as much as in ZOOM as the positions would not change and I could see and remember villains tendancies like in a live game.
Anyway, I now have learnt my lesson and this time I will be keeping all the notes and instructions to fix this problem. Next time I should be back up n running in around an hour. My month is pretty much over now as I am going away for 3 days shortly so I may just wrap things. Up +$3.6k month overall.
I was wondering why you were at those stakes. Nice month.
