October 2014 Review

Long time no review, well it's back this month!!

Low volume, part time results are probably not going to be as interesting as what you were used to but I'm still on the poker journey.

My VPP goal for the year is still 200k and I am still kinda on pace for that.

I played quite a few spin and go's this month. They are definitely good fun but a huge rake trap and I doubt many will beat them.

Stag, Wedding and Honeymoon....

I have played like 6k hands this month which is pretty laughable :)  I have a legit reason though, I was busy getting married so took some time out..!!

It all started with my Stag in London. A few of us hit Laser Wars at a place called Bunker 51. After that we hit the town via the Partybus which is basically a nightclub on wheels that takes you to 5 other clubs along the way. This is the Stag night crew:

It was then the big day and I married my other half of 4 and a half years, Claire. This is us during the picture shoot just after the vows:

A couple of days later we flew out to the luxury 5* Azul Sensatori Resort which is in Mexico just 20 minutes south of Cancun. This is the place:

So, I'm back now to hit the tables again and chase that 200k VPP mielstone which is going to be tough as I need to get hands in everyday while working full time and trying to have a social life.!!

NL100 Comfort Zone

It's been a whole week already in September. I haven't played much poker at all, probably less than 10k hands.

The days that I have played though have all had mostly NL100 in my sessions. After a week I can say that I am liking my new set, 18x tables of FR at 100.

As long as I don't go on some huge downswing then I can see myself staying here in order to target my new primary goal which is to play NL200 as my main game.

So far I'm up only a few BIs but with a FPP bonus due this month it should not be too long before I get a shot at 2hundo.

Back In The Rat Race + End Of Year Bonus

It's been a couple of weeks now that I have been working a full time 9-5 job. I'm just getting used to waking up around 6.30am which is tough considering the random times I used to get up and all the lie-ins I would have when I wanted to.

Being a poker pro is a great life if you can reach a good level. It would have been great to make SNE one time but I guess that will never happen.

I had a few years grinding but that's over now and I have new goals. I may return to it in a few years time or even earlier if I get canned from the new job.

So now poker for me is a recreational pass time. The first week I played an hour each day after work. In week 2 I pretty much played no poker at all until Fri/Sat. I am now playing 18 tables of normal FR with almost no Zoom. I have been playing all month at NL50. From September I will move up to NL100 and play between 8 and 12 tables of normal FR.

My goals for the rest of the year are to win a little each month, get to 200k VPPs and to try to move up slowly. When I previously worked full time I was an NL200 reg also playing NL400. I had no money worries because my work covered all my bills. I find myself in that position again so why not try to shoot for higher..!! Lets spin this up...

It been a while since I last posted and I'm not yet fully back to blogging. I've been really busy decorating, job hunting and organising my wedding, stag and honeymoon. 

I have been trying to get a few hands in and recover after my worst month ever last month. I have had soooooo many interesting hands histories to post but haven't had the chance yet. I will try and post some soon.

9 Years, Many Battles, Worst Month Ever..... 5 Days To Rescue

I am feeling pretty bruised and battered from this month's battles on the felt. As it stands I am over $2k down and have almost no chance to get back to even as I only have cash online for 25/50.

I will however attempt a challenge and that is to not have my worst month ever in almost 9 years of playing poker. To do this I have to win around $800 in 5 days. Considering that I am losing $$$ almost everyday this will be very hard.

So far away from a bonus too.
