August 2010 Review

So my first month ever as a poker pro is over... Perhaps more appropriately i should say a semi pro as i only put in around 41,000 Hands which must average to around 2 hours a day.

This was not due to laziness though but was deliberate as i spent many hours reading/ watching poker related material. I must admit command and conquer red alert 3 on the PS3 did slightly distract me though, lol.

I now have a full months worth of HEM data, although i know that i can import history somehow, but have not yet figured out how.

90% of my play was at 50NL which is where i will continue to play for at least this month. I will also continue 10tabling as i try to improve my game play while i build my bankroll.

The final numbers for August are as follows:

7000 VPPs

+$1,149 (Table Winnings)
-$90 (HEM Investment)
+$149 (Tourni Winnings)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
+$1,208 (Total Month)

The YTD numbers as at the end of August are as follows:

+$5,745 - Jan*
+$3,385 - Feb*
+$467 - Mar*
+$1,620 - Apr*
+$1,234 - May*
-$1,555 - June
-$360 - July
+$1,208 - Aug
--------------------------------------------------------------------
+$11,744 (Total YTD)

* indicates winnings attained as a part-time player

I am happy with this small for take for August as i have halved my tables and am concentrating on learning. However, i need $1,600 a month to cover my bills.

For September my target is $3,000 bottom line. I intend to put in the most amount of hours that i have ever put into a single month.

With 4 months to go i also need to establish a realistic VPP Target. Having pondered this for a while a have decided that 300k VPP will be my 2010 Target. I want to get my game to as strong as possible before i commence the SNE chase in 2011. If my game is solid by then i will 20Table at NL100+ from Jan.

Peace.

  1. Hey ROSH

solid results mate for yr first month as a pro.
Just been in profit is a good result really as getting off to a good start can only be a great confidence boost.

Surely when u go for SNE next year u will need to play 24 tables. Just using the VPP calculater on PS u need to play about 40 odd hours per week on NL$200 to acheive it. Maybe the calculater is a bit off, but still a lot of work.

I have been practising stacking 24 tables, it takes a bit to get used to, but i have it cracked i think now as far as managing the tables/making decisions/not timing out etc. With table ninja u can jump a table out of the stack onto another monitor which makes it so easy. Maybe worth a bit of practice at a low level mate before you take the plunge next year.

GL, and hope u run deep in the $215 WCOOP on Sunday.

  2. hey rosh!! thanks for the kind words!! You seem to be doing well yourself so keep it up!! As far as SNE, you can easily attain it as can I if we can just put in the volume and hours and dedication. Motivation is key imo, until then...GL

  4. only got a bankroll of $550 now (as i have started 24-tabling from the begining) so cant afford to play live.

I went to the Vic about 2 years ago, me and the Mrs stayed at the Hilton Metropole. I just went down on my own to the Vic on a friday and saturday night, the £1/£1 cash game was so soft it was laughable....made about £300 for the weeknend but could have been more if i had not been card dead the second night.

Couldnt be arsed railing strangers to be honest mate would bore the pants of me. Definately hope to get playing live again once my bankroll increases.

For now every poker session is gonna be 24 tabling!!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
