Winding Down - Wind Down for October

The month was looking good at close to $2.5k profit with bonus. Then I managed to spew off over a grand to some nonsense plays over 2 days.

I took a few beats and lost a few flips at NL100 then I lost my head. Over the 7yrs I have been playing poker my tilt control has generally been excellent but in the last couple of years I have the occasional spew session.

This is obviously terrible and has a huge impact on your month's figures.

I will be back on track tomorrow. I know what to as I have done it before. No more spew sessions..!!

I am winding down since it is the last day of the month. I will play at lower levels and just enjoy it. Already stacked 3 people at NL25 and NL10 last 20mins :)

Laterz....

Down and Out - Almost

Every time I move up I have an immediate bad time of it. I just made the jump back to mixing in NL100 tables 2 days ago and then yesterday this happens:

I got a cash bonus and only cashed half so I could move up and build my roll. Now with this day the other half of that bonus is gone and my roll is on the tight side again.

Stupid Card Game...!!

Sitemeter.com Review

Anyone who has a Blog or website is probably interested in how many people are actually reading it, if any....

For well over year now I have been using sitemeter.com to keep an eye on my visitors at supernova125.blogspot.com. For anyone who is interested in how many hits I get you can click my sitemeter page button which is located at the bottom left of the Blog:

Although I only subscribe to the free version of sitemeter there is also a premium one available. I'm not sure what extra you can for your cash but I will go through some of the free pages which are excellent.

The main summary page is the one I look at first. It details some of the daily stats and looks like this:

I then like to take a look at who is on the site 'right now' when I am on and this page looks like this:

You can drill down further into the details of your visitors:

One of my favourite pages is the monthly visitors/ pageviews bar chart:

All in all I am very happy with the service and stats I get from these guys considering that I don't pay anything for it. I can highly recommend them to anyone who wants to know a little bit more about their readers.

There are many more pages available but I won't go through all of those. You will have to explore yourself. Laters....

Top 10 Countries / Travel Destinations for 2013

The Lonely Planet 'Best in Travel 2013' guide has just been released on their website and it is interesting reading. They list what they think will be the best places to go to in 2013.

Here is the list:

1. Sri Lanka

The country of my ancestors. My folks were born here and it is now really on the map after the positive developments over the last few years.

Almost 4yrs after the end of the 30 year civil the country has really opened up. New developments in infrastructure and hotel complex's are really starting to attract tourists.

The climate is awesome at around 28C all year round with some amazing beaches.

Prices are very reasonable to get to SL and also while you are in the country.

Being a Buddhist nation the culture and atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming.

There are numerous excursions to be had like safari, jungle treks, mountain climbing, shopping, temple visits with a good night life with many bars and casinos to visit.

Sri Lanka is one of the planet's best value destinations.

2. Montenegro

If you are into biking and hiking then Montenegro is an emerging travel destination.

There are lots of nice beaches to see along the Riviera.

Like Sri Lanka they have also had lots of new infrastructure and developments in recent times.

Places of note include the Bay of Kotor.

3. South Korea

While you have the bright lights and the big city in South Korea the country is developing as a real outdoor recreation destination.

There is a lot of golfing, hiking and fishing to be done.

It is forecast to really burst into the world scene in the coming years as it hosts a series of various sporting events.

4. Ecuador

5. Slovakia

6. Solomon Islands

7. Iceland

8. Turkey

9. Dominican Republic

10. Madagascar

Full Tilt Poker - Important Account Update

I received this email yesterday:

Dear Rosh,

Full Tilt Poker will re-launch under new ownership on November 6th, 2012.

The Rational Group, which owns and operates PokerStars, acquired assets of Full Tilt Poker in August 2012 and appointed new senior management to re-open and operate the site as a separate brand to PokerStars, providing the online poker community with another high-quality poker platform.

Following re-launch, you will have complete access to your account - including your full balance - and you can once again play on the innovative online poker platform that made Full Tilt Poker home to serious online poker players.

This means you'll soon be able to return to the Full Tilt Poker games and tournaments that you've known and loved for years, secure in the knowledge that your experience is now backed by the same account security and game integrity that millions of PokerStars players have trusted for more than 10 years.

Full Tilt Poker now operates under a license in Isle of Man, which is among the most trusted and rigorous e-gaming regulatory jurisdictions in the world. The Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission maintains vigilant standards for e-gaming, particularly the safeguarding of player funds. Information on these standards can be found here.

Since August, we've been carefully reviewing all Full Tilt player accounts in preparation for re-opening. In the coming weeks we will be completing the restoration of all non-US player accounts including yours, in preparation for re-launch day.

What this will mean for you:
  • normal access to your Full Tilt Poker player account with your current password
  • renewed access to all Full Tilt Poker real and play-money games
  • access to your total balance without restriction, including withdrawals
We thank you for your patience during this time. We will update you further as re-launch day approaches. For more information please see our Full Tilt Poker account FAQ.

In the meantime, we welcome your feedback and ideas to help make Full Tilt Poker your number one poker site - please click here to visit the feedback page.

Sincerely,

Full Tilt Poker

Pokerstars BOOM Hand Player / ZOOM Promo - I Won

Its a quirky little promotion that is running this week and basically allows ZOOM players to win an unlimited amount of bonuses.

To celebrate 1 million hands on Pokerstars BOOM Player they have 100bbs up for grabs each time you make a specific hand, win at showdown and share it on BOOM.

The specific hand changes each day and is basically a fun hand chosen by various team pros who have played them historically.

Day 1 was pretty poor for me. I played over 10k hands trying to hit the 8h8d as it is the best one all week. I got it 3 times but lost each time with so won no bonus.

Day 2 is harder to win with as it is Ah4s but I got it twice and won both so that's 200bb free. Gonna be a fun week, could win a shed load here..!!

Here are links to my 2 wins so far:

Faster Than the Speed of Sound

If you have been in a bubble then you may have missed an amazing feat that took place about a week ago.

Austrian Felix Baumgartner skydived from a jaw dropping 128,100 ft (24 miles up).

He broke the record for the highest freefall ever and in doing so he also travelled at faster than the speed of sound.

He reached a top speed of 833.9mph while the speed of sound is a mere 768mph.

Here is the clip:

Sitting Here Laughing

If you don't laugh you will simply cry :)

My bad run stretch is now getting close to the 4 month mark.

I am very chilled at the tables though and taking the beats well as they keep coming.

I am very pleased with my cool, calm and collected play over the last 2 days.

I get a wry smile on my face now every time I get AA as I start thinking: will I lose with it AI pre flop or will I just get stacked post when someone jams their Top Pair and hits 2 pair or trips on the river, lol.

Today's visual just sums up the run:

That extra $200 would be nice in my hand and the number of times over the 4 months that this kind of visual has been the end of day shot would add up to a tasty few grand but that's poker eh. At least I won :)

It is very easy for poker players to forget the real value of money with the swings we go through at various levels. I watched an interesting BBC TV series recently called 'Welcome to India' which was about life today in the 2nd most populated nation. One of the case studies was a dude who made tea cups from mud. One of his quotes was something like 'if I work 14 hours I can break-even, if I work 18 hours then I can make a nice profit. He was referring to like $5 or more for that shift.

I will fight hard to get back to winning ways and will try to never forget the real value of money in world terms.

The good news is that I am now completely back to NL50, playing mainly ZOOM for the moment. With a $1,600 bonus due in a couple of days I am now comfortably rolled at around $4k which means I will not have to drop down to NL25 any time soon, hopefully....

I need around 47k VPPs to get to 200k and around 62k VPPs to get to 200k + an extra $1,600 bonus before 1st Jan. If I can manage to not cash-out too much then I should build my roll and make the jump to NL100 and then getting these VPPs should be easy.

Lets Grind..!!
